Laurel shuts out BHS

The Laurel Tornados used a late first-half surge of momentum to take over their game against Brookhaven High on Friday night as they blanked the Panthers 20-0 in Laurel.

Brookhaven would easily move down the field on their opening drive and get to the Tornado two-yard line before fumbling the ball and losing possession.

The game was a scoreless tie after one quarter. Late in the second quarter Laurel used big plays — an 86-yard quarterback scramble and a 76-yard screen pass — to move the ball and stake a 13-0 halftime lead.

Laurel received the ball to start the second half and marched down for their final score of the night to give them the 20-0 advantage.

Brookhaven returns to King Field next week to host Forest Hill.
