Graveside services for Gladys Slade Burns, of Bogue Chitto, are today, Oct. 6, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bogue Chitto with a memorial to follow  at the church sanctuary. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Burns, 85, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018. She was born June 1, 1933, to John Emmitt Slade and Mildred Conn Slade in Sicily Island, Louisiana. She loved her family and her church and she filled her life with music. Her love of country and the privilege to vote was something she did not take lightly.

Always watching and listening, she was fascinated with politics. She was quick to help if needed and her work ethic was beyond reproach. She taught us about God, she made us strong and she showed us how to love and for those things we are forever grateful. In the later years of her life she met Lawrence Kyzar who became her constant companion and the love of her life until he was called home.
