HOLLY SPRINGS (AP) — Police in Mississippi say an officer has been fired for violating department policy while detaining and transporting a 15-year-old girl.

Local authorities wouldn’t identify the officer or provide any more details about the case.

WREG-TV reported Tuesday that Holly Springs police Chief Dwight Harris wouldn’t say what violations led to the officer’s firing, which was confirmed last month at a Board of Aldermen meeting. He wouldn’t say why and when the teen was taken into custody. The station says the city attorney and aldermen couldn’t be reached for comment or declined to comment. And Mayor Kelvin Buck, when asked if the officer is being investigated, said the firing was the “final step as far as the city is concerned.”
