Funeral services for Deborah Vee Smith, of Brookhaven, are Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at noon at Heritage Family Church with burial at Riverwood Memorial Park. Riverwood Family in Brookhaven is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith, 65, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2019. She was born June 14, 1953, to the late Junior Woodruff and Marlene Woodruff. She grew up in Urania, Louisiana, and moved to Vidalia, Louisiana. She graduated May 21, 1971, from Vidalia High School. She met Terry Smith and was married June 1, 1974, and after having their two daughters, they moved to Franklin County where she became a teacher of New Life Christian Academy. In 1997, she moved to Brookhaven and a teacher of Brookhaven Christian Academy where she loved all her students and served faithfully at Heritage Family Church, where she loved to cook for the church family and taught Sunday School, church camp and VBS. She was a loving grandmother to all her grandchildren and she loved to read and sing to them.

Preceding her in death was her brother, Dennis Woodruff.

Survivors are her husband, Terry Smith, of Brookhaven; daughters, Heather Barrois and husband, Tommy, of Opelousas, Louisiana, and Nicole Froelicher, of Brookhaven; five grandchildren, Delton Cothern, Avery Barrois, Dillon Barrois, Richmond Froelicher and Brenda Hamilton.
