Jeane was quite intelligent and was valedictorian of her high school senior class. She chose family over career to be a wife and mother; she brought eight children into the world. She was an accomplished seamstress, a passionate quilter, an experienced do-it-yourselfer, and an avid gardener who possessed a vast knowledge of flowers and plants. Jeane found joy in having the family together for any reason, and always whipped up a spread for those occasions.

Jeane, a lifelong Presbyterian, was very involved with the church. She taught Sunday school, served as a deacon, an elder and superintendent of education, and helped with countless other church activities,

Jeane is survived by her children, Foster Penn Meek and his partner LaWanda of Kingsville, Texas; Nona Noel Meek Leggett and her husband Frank of Brookhaven; Dara Rene Meek of Jacksonville, Florida; July Jo Meek and her spouse Georgette Bourg of Brookhaven; March Meek of Brookhaven; and Tarla Meek Phillips and her husband Ronnie of Wesson, Mississippi, as well as nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by sons, Blair Olen Meek and Lance Leon Meek, and grandson Richard Sutton.

Since Jeane chose to donate her body to science, there will be no funeral or memorial service. If one wishes to honor her memory, the family requests that donations be made to the charity the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation at msfocus.org/donate.
