Lincoln County COVID-19 update: 21 new cases of virus in county, 2 new deaths

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus COVID-19 in Lincoln County rose from 413 Thursday to 434 Tuesday. The county’s coronavirus-related deaths have risen by two since Thursday to a total of 34, according to the latest data from the Mississippi State Department of Health.

The number of local cases in long term care facilities has not risen from 111, but one additional death has been reported, bringing that total to 26.

Tuesday, MSDH reported 680 new confirmed cases of the virus statewide, 14 new deaths and 95 outbreaks in LTC facilities across the state. The cumulative total of confirmed cases is now 27,067, and 180 probable cases. The cumulative total of confirmed COVID-19-related deaths is 1,056, and 17 deaths likely tied to the virus.

On Monday, 560 people were hospitalized statewide with confirmed cases of coronavirus and 219 with suspected infections. There were 167 patients in intensive care units, with 91 on ventilators.

More than 299,500 tests have been performed statewide by all testing providers — 287,546 for active coronavirus and 11,965 for antibodies to determine if a person has had the virus previously and is now recovered.

Across the state, 19,388 persons are presumed recovered from the virus.
