The vaccination effort is in full force, as King’s Daughters Medical Center remains the sole site in Lincoln County where shots are administered.

Emergency Management Director Clifford Galey has been working with the Mississippi Department of Health to designate the Lincoln County Health Department as a vaccination site, but he hasn’t had much luck.

Galey said he doesn’t think the health department will receive the authorization at this time.

“It looks like the hospital will be our only avenue,” Galey said. “I haven’t heard anything from the health department. If they’re looking at a site, I haven’t heard.”

Galey advises residents to watch for updates from KDMC regarding COVID-19 vaccines, as the hospital is the only site in Lincoln County at this time.

“If you need a vaccine, then you’ll need to call the hospital,” Galey said.

For anyone who is able to travel outside of the county, testing sites are available in Pike and Hinds counties. Appointments can be made on www.msdh.com.

On Monday, MSDH released its newest coronavirus statistics. There were 3,303 total cases and 97 total deaths in Lincoln County. Statewide, there were 635 new cases and one new death.
