Wolfpack capture third in Northwest tournament

OLIVE BRANCH – The Co-Lin Wolfpack captured third place in the Northwest Mississippi Invitational Tournament held at North Creek Country Club in Southaven and Wedgewood Country Club in Olive Branch. The Wolfpack shot a two-day total of 610 (302-308) to finish one shot ahead of fourth place East Mississippi. Meridian took first place honors with a 579 (288-291) followed by Mississippi Gulf Coast at 590 (293-297).

Rounding out the team competition were East Central 613 (303-310), Northwest MS 614 (305-309), Jones County 619 (313-306), Northeast MS 646 (332-314), Hinds 655 (320-335), and Itawamba 698 (354-344).

Individually for Co-Lin, freshman Ryan Desormeaux led the way with 147 (71-76) earning him a tie for fifth place and a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Sophomore Austin Schillaci finished at 151 (76-75), Connor Barnes at 152 (77-75), Gregory Causey at 160 (78-82), and Taylor Jelks 168 (80-88). Will Lee competed as an individual finishing at 154 (77-77).

Connor Cavin of Meridian shot 140 (68-72) to take medalist honors. Hayes Weathersby of Mississippi Gulf Coast came in second at 143 (72-71) followed by teammate Adam Ham at 145 (73-72), Meridian’s Ty Medling at 146 (73-73), and Fant Carpenter of Mississippi Gulf Coast tied with Desormeaux for fifth at 147 (73-74). All six players were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Wolfpack will be back in action on April 14-15 at the East Mississippi Invitational at Lion Hills Country Club in Columbus.
