Cat’s Meow sale delayed by rain

Brookhaven Animal Rescue League volunteers are delaying their fundraiser, “The Cat’s Meow Sale,” until Saturday, Sept. 28. The event had been set for this Saturday

Due to weather condition and the building having some leaks, we needed to push it out until next Saturday,” said BARL volunteer Rusty Adcock. “We apologize for the inconvenience.

The rescheduled sale will be from 7 a.m. till noon Sept. 28 in a vacant metal building at 963 Highway 550 just past Crane’s 550 Grocery on the left.

“We just want people to come out and shop and find a good deal,” Adcock said, noting it’s not a junk sale or a just a garage sale, it’s the good stuff.

“This sale is more than an ordinary yard sale,” he said. “We mostly have items that are “gently used” – not just junk. We have quite a bit of clothes, a lot of baby clothes, several pieces of furniture like a desk, bunk beds, a recliner, a chest of drawers and a couple of TVs.”

This is the second year for The Cat’s Meow sale, and it was a big fundraiser for the rescue league last year, said Adcock and fellow volunteer Kay Travis.

The money generated goes directly to the care of the animals and is used for things such as veterinary fees, health maintenance supplies, food, cleaning supplies needed around the shelter, utilities and everything needed to keep the shelter going.

Adcock said they also accept pet food and supplies.

“We always accept donations of pet supplies to use at the adoption center,” he said.

The rescue league shelter is located at 501 Northpark Drive, off of Industrial Park Road behind Keystone Ballpark and is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
