BOGUE CHITTO – The Saint Andrew’s Saints capitalized on BogueChitto turnovers and defeated the Bobcats 38-19 Saturday night onTroy Smith Field.

BOGUE CHITTO – The Saint Andrew’s Saints capitalized on BogueChitto turnovers and defeated the Bobcats 38-19 Saturday night onTroy Smith Field. It was the season opener for both schools.

The Saints took a 17-6 halftime lead and increased the margin to38-13 on a series of turnovers before Bogue Chitto scored late inthe fourth quarter. A 9-yard TD pass from quarterback Jacob Leggettto Scott Edwards with 3:59 left in the game ended Bogue Chitto’sscoring.

“We made too many mental mistakes,” said Bogue Chitto coach CarlCole. “Turnovers and penalties killed us.”

The Saints led 14-0 with 11:52 left in the first half. TheBobcats broke the ice with 17 seconds left in the first half whenJohnathan Cutrer ran two yards for a TD.

RaShard Johnson had kicked a 20-yard field goal for the Saints,making it 17-0.

The Saints took a 7-0 first-quarter lead on a 3-yard run bySherwood Colette. Johnson kicked the PAT with 7:01 left in thefirst quarter.

A 15-yard TD pass from quarterback Lee Hall to Edward Hanlongave the Saints their second TD and 11:52 left in the firsthalf.

In the third quarter, with 10:13 showing, Cody Wallace ran 33yards on a reverse to score Bogue Chitto’s second TD. DominiqueAddison kicked the PAT and it was 17-13.

The Saints responded with a Colette scoring run of 4 yards.Johnson kicked the PAT and it was 24-13.

On the next series, Bogue Chitto was intercepted. Johnson ran 4yards for the TD. His PAT kick made it 31-13.

Another interception on the next series, led to the Saints’ nextTD. Colette ran 8 yards for the next TD. It was 38-13 with 5:28left in the game.

Bogue Chitto resumes play Friday night, hosting the North PikeJaguars.
