MONTICELLO — The trial of two Silver Creek men accused ofcarjacking and kidnapping a Wesson teenager on Feb. 18, 1999, hasbeen continued until May 1.

Originally set for Wednesday, the trial of Frederick K.Jefferson, 20, and Detric Stringer, 20, was continued at therequest of the defense attorney.

The trail for Heather Hux, 20, of Monticello, charged as anaccessory after the fact to the crime, has also been continued. Itwas scheduled for Monday, Nov. 6, and has been postponed to May 3at the request of the defense attorney.

Jefferson and Stringer are accused of carjacking Greg Norton,18, on Highway 84 West while Norton was on his way to work aftervisiting friends in Monticello.

Norton was allegedly forced to the floorboard at gunpoint andkidnapped as part of the carjacking. He later escaped by leapingfrom the moving car while his captor was distracted.

Hux allegedly learned of the kidnapping and carjacking when oneof the men came to her home. The accused had also borrowed her carand were driving it at the time of the incident.

In other court matters, Circuit Court Clerk Cindy Stokes saidthe judge will be hearing guilty pleas Monday, Nov. 6.

A trial set for Nov. 6 for three men accused of armed robberyhas also been postponed. No court date has been set for the trialof Mario Cardell Stowers, Jeremy Stowers and Marcus Robinson Jr.They are accused of stealing $290 and two twelve-packs of beer fromBrad’s One Stop in January.
