Services for A. D. Whitehead of Roxie are 2 p.m., Thursday, May9, at Roxie Baptist Church with burial in Roxie Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at Franklin Funeral Home andThursday at the church from noon until service time.

Mr. Whitehead, 84, died May 4, 2002, at his residence. He wasborn in Franklin County on July 3, 1917, to A. S. Whitehead andMary Hunt Whitehead.

He was retired from Chevron Oil and Gas. He was mayor of Roxiefrom 1957-81. He was a member of Roxie Baptist Church, where heserved as a deacon for 48 years. He was a veteran of WWII.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, and twosisters.

Survivors are his wife, Voncile Frence Whitehead of Roxie; hisson and daughter-in-law, David Glen and Cindy Whitehead of Roxie;and seven grandchildren.
