Services for John H. Eley of Monticello are 1 p.m., Saturday,Oct. 4, at Quinn’s Temple COGIC in Monticello, with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Visitation is Friday, Oct. 3, from noon to 5 p.m. at the TylerFuneral Home, and at the church from noon to 1 p.m. on the day ofthe service. Family will be present at this time.

Mr. Eley, 49, died Sept. 30, 2003, at the V.A. Medical Center inJackson. He was born in Lawrence County on Jan. 26, 1954, to LevieEley Sr., and Effie Newson Eley.

He was a graduate of Monticello High School. He was a veteran ofthe U.S. Army and was employed offshore as a roughneck. He was amember of Quinn’s Temple COGIC.

Preceding him in death was his father.

Survivors are his mother, Effie Newson Eley of Monticello; hisdaughters, Kimberly Eley of Monticello and Karen Hathorn ofPrentiss; his son, Jonathan Eley of Monticello; his sisters, MarthaHill, Johnnie Mae Holloway, Ethel Johnson and Pearl Eley, all ofMonticello; his brothers, Nathaniel Eley, Levie Eley Jr., LeroyEley, Ernest Eley and Booker T. Eley, all of Monticello; his twogranddaughters and a host of nieces and nephews.
