McComb sweeps BHS Invitational

The McComb girls and boys captured the Brookhaven InvitationalTournament Saturday night. The Lady Tigers dumped Crystal Springs65-44 and the Tigers beat Brookhaven 58-45.

Brookhaven resumes play Dec. 9 at South Pike in Magnolia.

A JV girls game will start the tripleheader at 5 p.m.

McComb 58, Brookhaven 45

Brookhaven head coach Ronald Hines was ejected from the game inthe fourth quarter for disputing a call. According to MHSAA rules,Hines was required to leave the gym.

Edwin Thompson and Charles Watkins officiated the game. Bothtechnicals were assessed by Watkins.

The Panthers were held to a season-low point total. They got 13points from Jasper Hall and 12 from Genaerio Richardson.

McComb, coached by Hilton Harrell, broke a 25-25 halftime knotby outscoring Brookhaven 15-8 in the third quarter. Directing theTigers were Pat Barnes and Tony Brinson with 15 points apiece.

The Lady Panthers (4-3) erased a 20-18 halftimedeficit to beat Lawrence County. Ten points by Kristian McCray ledBrookhaven in scoring.

Ronesha Garner led the Lady Cougars with 9 points.

Bogue Chitto 64, Salem 26

Directing Bogue Chitto to the win was Meleah Brown with 18points.

Salem got 6 points from Pam Martin and LaTandra Montgomery.

Lawrence Co. Wins

Lawrence County was powered by Jason Williams with 11 points inthe win over Tylertown’s Chiefs. Tylertown got 9 points from RevasJackson.

Salem 61, Bogue Chitto 54

Directing Bogue Chitto was Irrie Catchings with 24 points.Salem’s victory was led by James Ratcliff with 18 points and E.J.Magee with 12.

Crystal Springs 67, Wilkinson Co. 53

Leading the Tigers in the consolation boys bracket game, wereCourtney Welch with 15 points and Demario Smith and Eric Nicholswith 11 apiece. Jemario Martin chipped in 10 points.

Wilkinson County was led by Brant Spiller with 29 points.

McComb 65, Crystal Springs 44

In the girls championship game, McComb was led by SamanthaFelder with 18 points. Jasmine Patterson added 17 points andBrittani Pickens with 10.

Crystal Springs had Tyesa Williams with 16 points and AshleyCrisler with 12.
