James Garland Coldiron

Services for James Garland Coldiron, of Union Church, will beheld at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Stringer FamilyFuneral Home Chapel in Hazlehurst.

Visitation is Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Coldiron, 82, died Dec. 31, 2007, at his residence at BrookManor Nursing Center in Brookhaven. He was a native of Goodnight,Texas, and had lived in the Union Church area since 1958. He was aretired certified public accountant and formerly worked with theMississippi State Tax Commission, and the Mississippi StateDepartment of Corrections and served on the Peer Committee. He wasa cattle rancher and a member of Brookway Church of Christ inBrookhaven.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Marceline VarnadoColdiron; and his grandson, James Ethan Coldiron.

Survivors are his son, Jimmy Coldiron and wife Lori, of UnionChurch; his daughter, Marlene Cupit and husband Malcolm, of UnionChurch; his brother, Bobby Kent Coldiron, of Phoenix, Ariz.; andhis granddaughter, Anna Katherine Coldiron.

Alice T. Flowers

Services for Alice T. Flowers, of Brookhaven, will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Willie Mae Tyler Memorial Chapelin Brookhaven with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brookhaven. R.E.Tyler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday from noon until 5 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Flowers, 95, died Dec. 27, 2007, at Countrybrook LivingCenter. She was born in Lincoln County on Nov. 21, 1912, to StemThompson and Alice Kennedy Thompson.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Second Baptist Churchin Brookhaven.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, CharlieFlowers; her sons, Charlie Flowers Jr. and Harold A. Flowers; herdaughter, Virginia Flowers Jackson; her brothers, Frank and JamesThompson; and her sisters, Maude Newton, Bessie Bullock, OlaThompson and Sina Thompson.

Survivors are her sons, Larry Flowers and Willie B. Flowers,both of Brookhaven, and Frank Flowers, of Vallejo, Calif.; herdaughters, Jacqueline Waller, of Roxie, Annette Waller, ofBrookhaven, and Claudette Johnson, of Greenville; her 11grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Leon Goodson

Services for Leon Goodson, of Fayette, will be held at 2 p.m. onThursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel inMeadville with burial in Sarepta Church Cemetery in FranklinCounty. Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home,and on Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.

Mr. Goodson, 90, died Dec. 31, 2007, at Franklin County MemorialHospital in Meadville. He was born in Jefferson County on Dec. 12,1917, to Walter Leon Goodson and Loni Lee Goodson.

He was a farmer. He was a member of Sarepta Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother; foursisters; and his first wife, Myrtle Ruth Goodson.

Survivors are his wife, Rachel Goodson, of Fayette; his sons,Jimmy Lynn Goodson, of Fayette; his daughters, Barbara Freeman, ofRoxie, Nina Granger, of Brookhaven, and Ann Difranco, of Hammond,La.; his stepsons, Armon Whittington and Paul Whittington, both ofHazlehurst; his stepdaughters, Mary Helen Pierce, of Summit, andWillie B. Myer, of Jackson; his 15 grandchildren and 20great-grandchildren.
