The long road to the state tournament in Jackson begins thisweek with the start of division basketball tournaments. On thelocal scene, Bogue Chitto is hosting the Division 8-1A Tournamentin R.L. “Bob” Calhoun Gymnasium.

In other division action, McLaurin hosts the Division 6-2ATournament, Mendenhall hosts Division 6-4A and Wilkinson County inWoodville hosts Division 7-3A.

At Bogue Chitto, the the West Lincoln boys (18-7, 11-1) andBogue Chitto girls (16-6, 12-0) are seeded No. 1. Championshipfinals are scheduled Fridday night. Following the MHSAA playoffformat, the top four teams will advance to the South Missisissippiopening round which begins Feb. 18. First and second place teamswill host the third and fourth place teams from anotherdivision.

In Division 6-2A, the undefeated Hinds AHS boys (27-0) and theLoyd Star girls (21-5, 11-1) are seeded No. 1. They won’t playuntil Thursday night in the semifinals.
