Is this really the last day of February? I am confused, as thepeople here already know. In last Sunday’s bulletin I listed anevent for Feb. 29. Thank the Lord it was announced very discreetly,as it was for March 1. I am ready for March and spring, so I don’tknow where my brain was going with that one.

We are welcoming a new staff member to our church. Bro. Keith Pedenand family are here leading our Children/Youth Ministries; theyhave already blessed us with their Christian values and attitude.Pray for them as they work with us here at Union Church BaptistChurch to minister to our young people.

Our hearts grieve for the Sandy Simpson family. Sandy’s sweetspirit will be missed by many people. Pray for this family with us.Some of you may remember Sandy’s mother, who is Ruby MooreSimpson.

Joy Craddock had surgery last Monday. We pray for a completerecovery for her and for Buddy as he takes care of her.

Several from our community saw the Brookhaven Little Theatreproduction of “Dearly Beloved.” We are especially proud of one ofour own, Deanna Ezell, who did a great job with her gift of musicas well as acting ability.

On March 5, our young people met for a bonfire and planning time toget GAs, RAs and youth ready for camp this summer. It is never tooearly to start making plans, too, for Vacation Bible School June9-12.

Our missions leader, Helen Henderson challenged us to think NorthAmerican Missions this month. Our goal is $1,900. We will be havingour week of prayer soon.

Since I won’t see you next Sunday, please change your clocks onMarch 14. We spring ahead an hour on that day, so be in time forchurch.

On Thursday, April 8, plan on attending the Senior AdultCelebration at Port Gibson Baptist Church at 9:30 a.m.

Union Church is involved in the Buckets for Haiti project. We needthe following items for our buckets: (2) 5-lb. bags of long grainenriched rice, (1) 48-oz. plastic bottle cooking oil, (2) 2-lb.bags dry black beans, (1) 5-lb. bag all purpose flour, (1) 20-oz.cylinder container of granulated white sugar, (2) 1-lb. boxes ofspaghetti noodles, (1) 2-lb., 8 oz. plastic jar of smooth peanutbutter and (1) 2-gal. plastic zip lock storage bag (used to wrapthe bottle of cooking oil). If you would like to be involved,please either bring your supplies to the church or donate to thecause.

Our pastor spoke from Isaiah 53:1-6 last week and admonished us tohear, believe and plant God’s Word, be aware of our Lord JesusChrist’s love for mankind and make decisions to give evidence ofHis love.
