POPLARVILLE – The Co-Lin Lady Wolves split a South Divisionsoftball doubleheader with the Pearl River Lady WildcatsThursday.

The Wolves won the opener 2-0 but fell to the Wildcats 8-3 in thefinale.

Co-Lin (13-6) resumes play following Spring Break on Monday, Feb.22, with LSU-Eunice coming in for two games, beginning at 3 p.m.Pearl River is 10-7.

“It is tough to win on the road in our division,” said Co-Lin headcoach Allen Kent. “We would have liked a sweep, but a split isacceptable.”

Bethany Pinkston (8Ks, 1BB) was the winning pitcher going thedistance in the 3-hit shutout. Katie Barrett (1K, 5BBS) took theloss.

“Bethany really had command of all of her pitches,” said Kent.”Pearl River has a strong, hitting club which makes the shutoutthat much more impressive.”

Co-Lin took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. In thesixth, the Wolves added another run to secure the win.

Powering Co-Lin with an RBI double was Debra Hamor. Daniele Wilsonfollowed with an RBI single. Terri Hodges hit safely.

Brandy Rester ripped a pair of singles for the Wildcats. MykealMaes singled.

Pearl River 8, Co-Lin 3

Grabbing the win was reliever Sheila Hall (6Ks, 2BBs) in 4.2innings. Starter Corinner Fraychineaud started (2Ks, 1HB ) for 2.1innings.

Hodges (1K, 1BB) took the loss in 2.1 innings. Pinkston (5K, 1BB)finished the final 3.2 innings.

Manor doubled to score 2 runs for the Wolves. Holli Smith collected2 singles. Singling were Monica Cameron, Kayla Coleman, Walker andHodges.

“We stranded ten runners after the second inning,” said Kent. “Weout-hit them nine to eight, but just couldn’t get the clutch hitswhen we needed them.”

Jordan Adams smashed a grand slam home run for the Wildcats.Bethany Russell doubled twice for an RBI. Lauren Locke, Maes,Rester and Baleigh Volking hit safely.
