Lady Jags Crush Cougars

MONTICELLO – The North Pike Lady Jaguars crushed the LawrenceCounty Lady Cougars 16-3 in Thursday night slowpitch softballaction.

The Cougars of Monticello will resume play traveling to South PikeTuesday night. The game is set to start at 5 p.m. with juniorvarsity followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.

Charneissa Gordon was the winning pitcher for North Pike.

Kristen Byrd absorbed the loss for the Lady Cougars.

North Pike (4-2, 2-0) was led offensively by Rachel Kelly andBreanna McKenzie with a triple, a double and two singles apiece.Summer Brown provided a homerun and a single. Marissa Jenkinscontributed a double and two singles. Lauren Wells and SavannaJohnston collected two singles apiece. Hitting safely were ShelbyAbdul-Hadi, Alana Hopkins and Gordon.

Jaz Thomas, Shelby Mitchell and Kristen Sauls were the leaders forthe Cougars offense collecting two singles apiece. Hitting safelywere Erika Watts, Mary Margaret, Kayla Byrd and EmilyTurnage.

In JV action, The Lady Jaguars blanked Lawrence County 12-0.Danaraye Parks sparked the North Pike offense with a triple, adouble and a single. Jana McEwen collected two singles. Hittingsafely were Janay Maxwell, Sky-Lyn Brown, Savannah Welch, McKenzieBrock and Sarah Brock.
