Hart passes Dexter Bulldogs over Bogue Chitto’s Bobcats

DEXTER – Senior quarterback Tyler Hart completed 10 of 16 passescompiling 170 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also rushed for twotouchdowns as the Dexter Bulldogs held on to defeat the BogueChitto Bobcats 35-21 Friday night in a pivotal Region 4-1Amatchup.

“We did not play well in the first half,” said BC head coach GarethSartin. “We gave up too many big plays to a good team.

“We had a chance to come back but came up short,” continued Sartin.”Overall, we have got to play all four quarters to our bestabilities, especially now that we are in the playoffs.”

Dexter (6-5, 5-2) came out an set the tone early in the gamescoring 28 unanswered point before Bogue Chitto could answer withtheir first touchdown that came in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs scored their first touchdown on a one-yard run by Hartwith 8:59 remaining in the first quarter.

Dexter managed to score two more touchdowns in the second quarter.The first TD when Hart hooked up with Chris Cooley for a 38-yardstrike with 6:54 remaining. The second was Ron Harvey with a31-yard reception from Hart with 3:12 left. The Bulldogs weretwo-for-two on 2-point conversions with catches from Dante Butlerand Harvey. The Bobcats trailed 22-0 at halftime.

Hart scored his final touchdown of the night in the third quarteras he plowed 6 yards through to paydirt with 6:11 left.

Bogue Chitto (6-5, 4-3) finally got on the scoreboard with 5:50remaining in the third quarter as Brandon Well sprinted 61-yards tothe endzone. Garrett Wallace went three-for-three on extra pointkicks for the night.

The Bobcats scored again in the third quarter as James Blackwellscrambled for a two-yard touchdown with 2:48 remaining.

Bogue Chitto managed to trim Dexter’s lead to 28-21 with 10:15remaining in the fourth as Brock Robert used a quarterback sneak toget in the endzone from one-yard out.

The Bulldogs tacked on some insurance points late in the fourthquarter as Dante Butler caught a 5-yard pass from Chris Cooley with2:05 remaining. Clifford Fernadez was one-of-two on extra pointkicks for the night.

The Bobcats return to action Friday as they gear up for the openinground of 1A MHSAA State playoffs. BC will be the No.4 seed ofRegion 4-1A and will travel to face Nanih Wayia the winner ofRegion 3-1A.

Dexter will represent Region 4-1A as the No. 3 seed and travel toface South Leake.

Defensively, Jermaine Blackwell led the Bobcats with 13 tackles.Tevin Tobias contributed 7 stops. Brandon Wells provided 5tackles.

Wells led the way for the offense of Bogue Chitto with 9 carriesfor 107 yards. Colton McClendon provided 46 yards on 14 carries.Brock Roberts completed 1 of 7 passes for 11 yards. Michael Martincaught one pass for 11 yards.
