Boil water alert issued
MEADVILLE – A boil water alert has been issued for residents who receive their drinking water from the Franklin County Water Association – South Meadville System.
The alert affects approximately 213 customers from the Child Center for the Community at 2520 Highway 84 East in the Bude community to St. Paul’s Baptist Church at 7755 Highway 84 East in Quentin and from there to 12935 Highway 84 East.
Water system officials notified the State Department of Health of a pressure loss due to one or more line breaks.
Loss of pressure can allow contaminants to siphon back into the water. Public health officials consider any system that loses pressure contaminated until testing proves otherwise.
Officials strongly recommend all water be boiled vigorously for one minute before consumption.
Notifications will be issued when tests show the water is safe to drink.
