Bears maul Amite County

LIBERTY – The West Lincoln Bears mauled the Amite County Trojans to claim a 17-1 win in Region 7-2A baseball action Tuesday.

The Bears (10-2, 3-0) return home to host Amite County for another divisional contest Friday. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m.

The Bears quickly took care of business Tuesday night as they ran wild in Liberty by overpowering the Trojans to secure a 10-0 lead in the first inning.

West Lincoln continued their hitting attack in the second and third innings to force the mercy rule in three innings of action.

Senior Brady Wilson provided a strong pitching performance for the Bears, collecting seven strikeouts and allowing only four walks.

Wilson also sparked West Lincoln’s offense with a three-run homerun. Alex Neal fueled the flames with two doubles.

Hitting safely were Tanner Boutwell, Tyler Moak, Lofton Sills, Ty Forman and Chase Buckles.

In junior varsity action, the Bears crushed the Trojans 20-0,

Seth Bivens pitched the victory for West Lincoln with two strikeouts and two walks.

Hunter Maxwell powered the Bears at the plate with a double and two singles. Austin Burris contributed a double.

Daniel Spears, Turner Pyles, Seth Bivens, Treston Roberts and Nathanael Addison hit safely.
