Funeral Services for Jane Britt Jackson of Starkville are 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Starkville with burial in Memorial Garden Park Cemetery. Welch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, from 9 until 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Starkville.
Mrs. Jackson, 84, died Dec. 22, 2014, at her residence in Starkville. She was born on Aug. 10, 1930 in Copiah County to David P. Britt and Mamie Smith Britt.
She graduated from New Site High School in 1947. Jane attended Copiah-Lincoln Junior College, where she played basketball, and then graduated from University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in home economics. She married Edwin Robert Jackson on Nov. 21, 1954, and they were married 56 years. She was a home economics teacher in Water Valley, Starkville assistant home economist for one year, home economist in Choctaw County, Home Economist teacher at Sturgis High School for 10 years, as well as a wife and mom. She was a homemaker, long time member of First Baptist Church in Starkville, and a loving wife and mother. Preceding her in death were her husband, Edwin Robert Jackson; parents, David P. and Mamie Smith Britt; and son-in-law, Travis Denton Phillips, Jr.
Survivors are her daughter, Martha Jackson Phillips and husband, Travis Denton Phillips Jr., of Starkville; her son, David Clark Jackson and wife, Lorraine Krametz Jackson, of Penn Yan, New York; and her grandchildren, Edwin Travis Phillips and David Denton Phillips.
Memorial donations may be made to French Camp Academy, Lottie Moon Mission Offering, or First Baptist Church in Starkville.
