Graveside Services for Elsie Lucile Carter Davis of Brookhaven, formerly of Fontainebleau, are 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at Crestlawn Memorial Park. Riverwood Family Funeral Services is in charge of local arrangements.
Visitation is Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davis, 94, died Jan. 19, 2015, at Haven Hall Healthcare Center in Brookhaven. She was born on July 2, 1920, in Village Mills, Texas, to William Raymond Carter and Bertie Rae Wiggins Carter Releford.
She retired from civil service after serving as a secretary for the U.S. Navy in Pascagoula and Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi. She was a member of the Fontainebleau Homemaker’s Club and served on the Jackson County Fair Board for 25 years. Known for her pies, cakes and homemade breads, there was always something sweet and a hot cup of coffee for family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Frank Roy Davis of Fontainebleau; her sisters, Allene Carter Sumrall, Gladys Carter Archer, Joyce Carter Barras, Sarah Benellen Carter Knight, Jimmy Rae Carter Landgrebe, and Bobbie Ruth Carter Zittle.
Survivors are her daughters, Rebecca Gwendolyn Davis Nations and husband, Richard Wayne of Brookhaven and Vivian Ellen Davis of Vancouver, Washington; her brother-in-law, Charles “Duke” Davis and sister-in-law Beryl Davis; her sisters-in-law, Tillie Davis Roberts of Gautier and Marilyn Parks Davis of Pascagoula; two step-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
