Native receives Ph.D from seminary

Gerald “Guy” Burke III received the Doctor of Ministry degree Dec. 13 from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is pastor of First Baptist Church in Indianola. Burke is a graduate of Enterprise Attendance Center and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mississippi College and a Master of Divinity degree from NOBTS. He previously served in the Minister-in-Residence program at the First Baptist Church of Atlanta, Georgia and as assistant pastor of First Baptist Church of Greenville. He is the son of Gerald Scott Jr. and Marie Burke of the Clear Branch community and is married to the former Lindsay Fortenberry of McComb. They have a son Evan and a daughter Addison and reside in Indianola.
