Raleigh roars past Wesson

RALEIGH – The Wesson Lady Cobras suffered a tough 11-1 loss to the Raleigh Lady Loins Monday night in game one of the best of three series in Class 3A state softball playoffs action.

The Lady Cobras (11-10), coached by Michelle Nunnery, will be in action today as they host the Raleigh Lady Lions for game two and game three, if necessary. Game time begins at 6 p.m., if weather permits.

The Lady Lions came out and quickly overpowered the Lady Cobras to win game one in a five-inning contest.

Carrie McSweyn absorbed the setback on the rubber, pitching for the Lady Cobras.

Brooke Jones was the offensive leader at the plate for Wesson with a double and a single. Amber Brinson, Kayla Britt, Carrie McSweyn, Sabria Green and Shelby Maxwell hit safely.
