To the residents of Lincoln County:

I read with interest the 2015 Republican story in Thursday April 30th paper. There is no doubt these are good people, and I know most of them.
But I question Senator Doty’s statement “We serve as a model for the other Republican parties across the state, and people are watching us and seeing the good things that we do.” What are the good things that we have done in the 14 years of Republican political control.
One thing comes to mind: the loss of the Wildlife and Fisheries Department that moved to Magnolia, along with several jobs, etc. I cannot see one thing they have brought to Lincoln County?
Here are a few things that were done during the Democrat control from 1980 to 2000.
The 1987 road bill which put four-lane roads from one end of the state to the other. One of the major things was putting Highway 84 at an intersection with Interstate 55. It placed Brookhaven and Lincoln County into a crossroads of the state.
You can also see a lot of things all around Lincoln County that were done from 1980 to 2000:
• All Lincoln County schools have new buildings.
• A new welfare building.
• New highway safety patrol building.
• New National Guard building.
• State veterans nursing homes.
• Juvenile Rehabilitation center.
• Lincoln County multi-purpose building complex.
• Mississippi School of Arts.
• The overpass on industrial park.
• The $50 million bridge program for the counties.
I am sure I could think of numerous others.
