A prayer for positive unity

When I read last week’s “Letter to the Editor” by Milton West, I had to wholeheartedly agree.
It appears some city officials could possibly be afflicted with “I” problems. Maybe, maybe not. Citizens aren’t in on all details, of course.
I belong to a prayer group that meets twice monthly and we pray for unity in our churches, safety in our schools, and for city officials and leaders to be united and do the right thing.
We could all learn a lesson from Scripture. When people gathered together to build the Tower of Babel, they were of one mind and one purpose.
“The LORD said, ‘If they have begun to do this as one people all having the same language, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.’” — Genesis 11:6
It is a principle that is operable both negatively and positively. People can do good things, even great things, if they are of one mind. The reverse is also true.
We pray for great things to be done in Brookhaven.
Unity. It is a principle that works for good or otherwise.
