The well-known children’s boutique Expectations, owned by Angie Warren, will celebrate 20 years of business today and Saturday.

Expectations and Expectations Too, the juniors and ladies apparel shop, will be open today and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the store’s birthday celebration.

“We are hosting an all-day event both days,” Expectations Too manager Chasity Furr said. “Expectations will have more than 100 door prizes from name brand lines to give away.”

The companies that provide Expectations’ products, such as Three Cheers, Hot Baby, Mud Pie, Whiffer Sniffers and Flap Happy, donated many of the door prizes, Furr said.

“It was a very generous gesture for those companies to make the door prize donations,” Furr wsaid.

The only requirement to be entered to win a door prize is to purchase something from either store, she said.

Both stores will offer a 30 percent off discount storewide, excluding furniture, during the two days, Furr said. Any customer who spends $50 or more will receive a free Expectations birthday T-shirt, she said.

Refreshments will be severed both days.

Celebrating 20 years in a small town like Brookhaven proves to big a huge accomplishment, Furr said.

“It’s pretty exciting,” she said. “In such a small town, we’ve seen so many businesses come and go, so there is a lot to be said for making it 20 years, especially when you are able to grow.”

Expectations Too opened more than 10 years ago, following in Expectations’ successful footsteps, she said.

“Angie asked me about 13 years ago to come help her run Expectations,” Furr said.

Furr said it has been a wonderful journey and she looks forward to celebrating many more birthdays with Expectations and Expectations Too.

The Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce plans to honor Expectations today.
