Panthers, Bulldogs to face off

With the first game of the KDMC Kickoff Classic in the books, all eyes will be on the second contest at Stone Stadium at 7 p.m. featuring the Ole Brook Panthers and Franklin County Bulldogs.

The two teams have developed a bit of a rivalry as of late, so it could be a physical contest at Stone Stadium tonight.

As kickoff draws near, here are some players fans should keep an eye out for on both sides of the ball.

Jemaurian Jones, Brookhaven

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound defensive back is one of the best in the business. Jones currently has offers from the likes of Southern Miss, Jackson State and Memphis. Expect to see the junior lined up against the Bulldogs’ best receivers tonight.

Jeffery Johnson, Brookhaven

At 6-foot-3, 321-pounds, nose guard Jeffery Johnson will be a handful for offensive lines all year. Tonight he will have an advantage, at least as far as size is concerned, over Franklin’s 6-foot, 230-pound center. If Johnson is able to break through the double teams he is sure to encounter, or at least clear running lanes for his linebackers, the Bulldog running backs could be in for a long night.

De’Martre Collins, Franklin County

The Primetime 23 athlete should be considered the X-factor for the Bulldogs heading into this game. He will line up everywhere from receiver and running back to special teams. The Panthers will have to keep him in check if they hope to get a win tonight.

Cameron Young, Franklin County

The 6-foot-5 senior had seven tackles and a sack last year in a 20-6 victory over the Panthers. With a relatively young offensive line, Ole Brook must find an immediate answer for Young or face his wrath all night.
