Red Stuard field was at capacity Friday night at Brookhaven Academy for a homecoming showdown with the Parklane Pioneers.
The Pioneers struck early using the short field to their advantage en route to a 41-7 win.

Seniors Madison Smith and Fisher Warren combined for 86 yards rushing on 10 attempts, but drives were difficult to sustain all night.

The senior signal-caller Smith went 5-of-17 on the night with three interceptions.

Parklane posted 20 points in the first quarter to build a comfortable lead, then added 14 more in the second quarter to put the game out of reach. The Pioners exhibited balance throughout the contest, but their running game set the tone.

The visiting team finished the game with 263 yards rushing. The effort was led by 102 yards and one score by Jay Smith. Trent Coleman added 71 yards and one touchdown as well.

BA’s Warren would score the Cougars’ only touchdown in the third quarter. Warren would also add 95 kick return yards on the night.  Sophomore Keegan Smith would add 53 yards rushing on seven carries.

Senior linebacker Connor Griffin, had a season-high 13 tackles and senior defensive lineman Kyle Cupit had a season-high 11 tackles. Griffin had a fumble recovery and a pass break up.

The Cougars hit the road for two consecutive games before returning to Brookhaven for the final game of the season. The Cougars’ game this  week against Amite School Center is set to kick off at 7 p.m.
