Graveside services for Harriet Emily Purser Greer were held Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at Hollywood Cemetery at 2 p.m. Dr. Ken Kirk officiated the services with Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Greer, 93, died on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at Country Brook Living Center in Brookhaven. She was born Dec. 19, 1923, in McComb to George Theodore and Rita Conn Davis. She was a member of North McComb Baptist Church in McComb; was a retired beautician; and enjoyed helping with the Girl Scouts, fishing, and most of all spending time with her family. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Preceding her in death were her parents, George Theodore and Rita Conn Davis; husband, Luther Lee Greer; daughter, Nancy Cain Whittington Richardson; son, Frank Robert Whittington; brother, Robert “Buster” Purser; and sons-in-law, Morris “Buck” Greer and Charles R. Owens Sr. Survivors are her daughter, Millie Greer Owens of Brookhaven; grandchildren, Gina Greer Jones and husband Greg of Brandon, Jennifer Greer Thornton and husband Stan of Fairhope, Alabama, Kim Porche-Sillyman and husband Randy of Johnson City, Tennessee, Brandi Whittington Hill and husband Tracey of Tylertown, Clarissa Whittington of Denham Springs, Louisiana, Chuck Owens and wife Courtney of Brookhaven, Allison Owens Wallace and husband Blake of Brookhaven; great-grandchildren, Lauren Emily Habig, Douglas Habig Jr., Anna Katharine Thornton, Grant Thornton, Savanah Lape, Gabriel Sillyman, Morgan Jade Hill, Sydne Hill, Payton Robert Hill, Tucker Wallace, Trace Owens, Katherine Wallace, Turner Owens, Piker Wallace, John Patrick Wallace and Trent Owens; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers are Douglas Habig Jr., Grant Thornton, Gregory B. Jones and Stan Thornton.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Camellia Estates Assisted Living Facility and Country Brook Living Center.
