Funeral services for Barbara Joyce Smith, of Brookhaven, are Friday, April 14, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) with burial at Fair River Baptist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven. Rev. David Fortenberry and Rev. Martin Hayden will officiate the services.

Visitation will be Friday, April 14, 2017, from noon until time of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith, 71, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born July 19, 1945, in Brookhaven, to James Ray Allen and Sally Delaughter Allen. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking for family, spending time with her grandchildren and shopping with her friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, Ab and Addie Allen; her husband, Tommy Smith; her parents; her sisters, Virginia Ann Case and Shirley Ruth Case; and brother, Robert James “Bob” Allen.

Survivors are her daughter, Amy Labeth Smith Bowering and her husband Danny, of Hattiesburg; grandchildren, Madison Grace Mitchell, Morgan Taylor Mitchell and Jackson Daniel Bowering; brother, Kenneth Allen; sisters, Jane Jackson and Peggy King; and a host of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Smith’s name may be made to The Church of the Way Mission Fund P.O. Box 3957 Brookhaven, MS 39601.
