Jeff King has called Brookhaven home for 16 years.

The Wesson native completed his bachelor’s degree in education at the University of Mississippi and followed it with a master’s degree at Mississippi College. He taught science and coached various sports at Wesson Attendance Center for 10 years.

Then a job offer brought him to Brookhaven and Alexander Junior High. King taught math there for 11 years. Then he made another move, this time to West Lincoln, where he taught science again. After eight years there, he retired from teaching with 29 years behind him.

King coached at every school where he taught. “You name it,” he said. “Everything from high school football all the way down to junior high girls’ basketball, I’ve done it all. I think I’ve coached every sport except tennis.”

Now, the retired teacher stays busy as a realtor with Joyce Askin Realty and as an independent marketing director for Team National.

King is a member of Southway Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon.

He and his wife Angie celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary recently and have two children. Their youngest son Jonah is a senior at Ole Miss, majoring in political science and psychology.

Their oldest son Aaron teaches and coaches at Brookhaven High School.

When he’s not working, or singing with the southern gospel group Zion’s Way Quartet, King likes to pass the time golfing, hunting and competing in bass fishing tournaments.
