Lions Club crowns beauties

Fifty-seven girls between the ages of 1 and 20 graced the stage at the 76th annual Lions Club Beauty Pageant, one of the state’s longest running pageants, this past Saturday.

Shelby Flumm was named Queen of the Lions Club Beauty Pageant at the end of the night. Other winners in that category included first place winner Taylor Brook Berch and second place winner Anna Morgan Smith.

Stephanie Bullock served as the master of ceremonies for the pageant, which began at 2 p.m. with the youngest category.

Originally known as the Lions Water Carnival when it began in 1943, the annual pageant has been a Brookhaven tradition for more than seven decades and is the club’s primary fundraising event. The funds raised help the club provide vision checks for local school children, as well as other club projects.

One-year-old category winners were first place winner Macy Elizabeth Henderson, second place winner MerryJames Grice and third place winner Hazel Grace Smith.

Two-year-old category winners were first place winner Jacie Gail Leggett, second place winner Ava Kate Lofton, third place winner Ella Hope Smith and fourth place winner Kinley Carrol Woolley.

Winners for the 3- and 4-year-old category were first place winner Haylen Yawn second place winner Bentlee Claire Nations, third place winner Sadie Layne Nations and fourth place winner Paisley Faith Smith.

Winners for the 5- and 6-year-old category were first place Laney Kate Wallace, second place winner Brooklyn Smith and third place Maggie Claire McDaniel.

Winners for the 7- and 8-year-old category were first place winner Kamryn Faith Robbins, second place winner Jenny Marie Case, third place winner Joy Nicole Leggett and fourth place winner Emmalyn Cadence Smith.

Winners for the 9- and 10-year-old category were first place winner Emmy Lane Francis, second place winner Emma King and third place winner Skyler Jayne McCullough.

Age 11 and 12 category winners were first place winner Karci Elizabeth Case, second place winner Taylor Grace Hutchinson and third place winner Jaycee Aldridge.

Age 13 to 16 category winners were first place winner Chloe Raelin Clanton, second place winner Madisyn Rayne King and third place winner Jaycie Case.
