Funeral services for LaVerne D. Brown, of Bogue Chitto, are today, Oct. 16, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Bogue Chitto with burial at the church cemetery. Bro. Anthony Yarborough and Bro. Devin Meilstrup will officiate the services. Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation was held Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue today, Oct. 16, 2018, from 9 a.m. until time of service the church.
Mrs. Brown, 81, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, at McComb Nursing and Rehab in McComb, with her loving family by her side. She was born Dec. 7, 1936, in Pike County, to Van McKinley and Eunice Bigner Dickerson. She married Earl Brown on May 15, 1954, after graduating from Johnston Station School. Her desire was always to be a godly virtuous woman and this is how she lived her life. She put the needs of others first, before her own. She taught others not only by her words but also through being an example.
Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Byron E. Brown; grandson, John Albritton; brother, James Dorman Dickerson; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lenzia and Eula Clark Brown.
Survivors are her husband of 64 years, Earl Houston Brown; four children, Judith Dykes (Norman), Rita Brown-Bobkoskie (Edward), Leslie Albritton (Mike) and Lewis Brown; 11 grandchildren, Shane Lofton (Tonya), Bryson Lofton (Michelle), Danathon Lofton, Amber Moyers (Colin), Bryant Brown, Lori Brown, Todd Brown, Lindsey Bobkoskie (Jacob), Lacie Gennaro (Chip), Melissa Wallace Allred (Neil), and Bridget Albritton (Cody); 22 great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers are Shane Lofton, Bryson Lofton, Danathon Lofton, Norman Boyles, Mike Albritton, Edward Bobkoskie, Chip Gennaro and Bryant Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Lewis Brown, Brenden Lofton, Seth Lofton, Daniel Lofton, Braden Busby, Noah Busby and Todd Brown.
