WL, Loyd Star pick up wins at 7-2A meet

Members of the Loyd Star and West Lincoln track and field teams recently competed in the Division 7-2A meet at Hattiesburg High School.

Ashland Watts of West Lincoln finished first in the 3,200-meter race for West Lincoln and her teammate Lasadria Stewart finished second. Lari Reed of West Lincoln finished second in the 1,600-meter race. Brittany Sturkey finished second in the discus and Amya Brown finished third. Lari Reed was second in the 1,600-meter race. West Lincoln was second in the 4 x 400 and 4 x 200 relays and third in the 4 x 200 relay.

On the boys’ side for West Lincoln Chase Spring won the 1,600-meter race and Trevor Murray finished second while Alex Leake finished third. The Bears also swept the 3,200-meter run with Tiler Castillo finishing first, Chase Spring second and Jonathan Mathis finishing third. Landon Burgess of WL won the long jump and his teammate Chris Freeman finished third. Keshon Byrd won the shot put and finished second in the discus. Tate Smith of WL was third in the discus. Tristin Rollins finished third in the 400-meter race and Logan Floyd was third in the 800-meter race. The Bears were second in the 4 x 100, 4 x 200, 4 x 400, and 4 x 800 relays.
