Wesson 1-1 on week, hosting North Pike tonight
The Wesson Lady Cobras host North Pike tonight in slow-pitch action at the Snake Pit. On Monday Wesson whipped region rival Franklin County 13-1. Tuesday Wesson ran into a red-hot Lawrence County team who beat them 11-0 in Monticello.
Wesson scored eight runs on eight hits to jump all over Franklin County in the third inning. Senior Catherine Wilson led the way at the plate by going 4-of-4 with two RBIs. Seniors Shelbi Maxwell and Anna Claire Crow both were both 4-of-5 with two RBIs each. Natalie Bonds hit a two RBI triple for coach Michelle Nunnery.
The Lady Cobras poured it on Monday with 21 hits, but on Tuesday they’d see the scrip flipped as LC outhit them 17-4.
Sydney Pevey and Jordyn Bridges led Lawrence County with three hits apiece in the win.
Next week Wesson will play at Brookhaven High on Tuesday before hosting Franklin County on Thursday. First pitch tonight against North Pike in Wesson is set for 6 p.m.
