Brookhaven High senior left hander Byrion Robinson recently signed a letter-of-intent with the Pearl River Community College baseball program.

As a junior Robinson was a member of The Daily Leader All-Area team as he went 3-2 on the mound with a 4.97 ERA. Robinson struck out a team high 50 batters and was a starting outfielder when not on the mound. He’s is also a standout for the Panther football team.

“I don’t know what Pearl River will need next year, but Byrion is a guy that can do whatever you ask him to do,” said BHS head coach Matt White. “In the outfield he can go gap-to-gap, he improves at the plate every year and he’s got such a live arm. He’s 88 to 90 miles per hour right now as a left hander and that’s what everyone is looking for. I think that once he focuses on just baseball that number will probably go up.”

Pearl River finished 38-11 last season and appeared in the NJCAA College World Series. They were the first school to offer Robinson for baseball after seeing him pitch on their field in a jamboree last season. Loyd Star alum Cade Hodges is a sophomore for the Wildcats this season and recently committed to Louisiana Tech while Enterprise alum Landon Gartman is a freshman on the team.
