Lawrence County’s Pevey signs with Jones College softball
Lawrence County senior infielder Sydney Pevey recently signed a letter-of-intent with the Jones College softball program.
Pevey was a Daily Leader All-Area selection as a junior and was also selected for the MAC All-Star game. She hit .480 at the plate last season while driving in 26 runs and scoring 25 more for the Lady Cougars. Pevey hit nine doubles, three home runs and two triples while posting a .920 fielding percentage as a shortstop.
In announcing her signing, Jones coach Chris Robinson offered praise for Pevey at the plate and in the field.
“She a very savvy player that knows the game well,” said Robinson. “She has over 100 RBIs in her high school career so she’s someone that can come up with the big hit to drive people in. She also has terrific arm strength.”
