Bobcats pile up hits in win at Lawrence County
The Bogue Chitto Bobcats (7-2) put together 13 hits Thursday in a 13-8 win over Lawrence County in Monticello. It was the first loss of the season for Lawrence County and coach Seth Avants.
Reid Smith, Ethan Gladden, Shaw King, Owen Anderson and Felder Sartin all had two hits each for coach Gareth Sartin and the Bobcats. Tristan Buffington, J.T. McCaffrey and Carson Price all had one hit each.
Gladden was a beast at the plate as he hit a double, home run and drove in three runs. Anderson also hit a double for BC.
McCaffrey drove in a pair of runs. Smith, Buffington, Price, Anderson and Sartin all had one RBI each.
Hunter Daley and Tae Cole led Lawrence County (6-1) with two hits each. Cole doubled, and Evan Lambert homered.
Brandon Welch, Buffington, King and Gladden all pitched for the Bobcats. Welch gave up five hits in four innings as the starter.
Payton Baylis drew the start for LC. Tucker Bass, Dylan Dunaway and Lambert all also saw time on the mound for the Cougars.
The Bobcats are scheduled to travel to Loyd Star on Tuesday while the Cougars will travel to South Jones Monday and host McComb Tuesday.
