Harts celebrate 60th

On a hot Saturday afternoon on July 30, 1960, Gerald and Glenda Hart were married at Macedonia Baptist Church in Brookhaven, Mississippi.

They are celebrating 60 years of marriage this summer. To celebrate the occasion the family gathered at a beach house in Gulf Shores, Alabama, for a week in mid June. Twenty-eight of their 32 family members were able to be there.

Gerald and Glenda are the parents of: son, Anthony Hart (Traci) of Madison, Mississippi; daughters, Angie Horton (Francis) of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Amy Johnson (Kyle) of Brandon, Mississippi.

They have 10 grandchildren — five boys and five girls: Kennedy Horton (Caitlin), of Dublin, Ireland; Katy Buckner (Jonathan), of Long Beach, Mississippi; Kelsey Cummins (Lance) of Boone, North Carolina; Konner Horton (Julia), of Atlanta, Georgia; Daniel Hart (Katrina), of Olive Branch, Mississippi; Derek Hart (Connor), of Ridgeland, Mississippi; Betsy Hart, of Madison, Mississippi; Meg, Justin and Molly Johnson, of Brandon, Mississippi.

They have eight great-grandchildren: Duofu and Kairui Horton; Maverick, Angus, Rhett and Isla Buckner; and Andrew and Harley Cummins.

Gerald is retired from Georgia Pacific/St. Regis as transportation manager and Glenda is retired from Brookhaven Public Schools where she taught first grade. They reside on Macedonia Road where they have lived for over 50 years and attend Macedonia Baptist Church.
