The West Lincoln Bears started hot and didn’t let up on Friday night in their season opener against Sacred Heart School from Hattiesburg. The Bears led 35-0 at halftime on their way to a 41-20 rout of the Crusaders.
Last season, the Bears won 41-21 in Hattiesburg as their team speed was too much for SHS to slow down. That was the case again Friday in a game played on the campus of Copiah-Lincoln C.C. in Stone Stadium.
Junior running back Enrico Price scored on a 68-yard touchdown on the first WL play from scrimmage. Price ended the night with three scores. Senior Chris Freeman also scored on an 80-yard punt return for the Bears.
West Lincoln travels to Puckett next week to play the Wolves in Rankin County.
