A fourth-quarter lead for the Brookhaven Academy Cougars wouldn’t hold Friday night in Natchez as the Cathedral Green Wave rode a pair of short Bryson Moore touchdown runs to victory in the final seven minutes of action.
The game was the district opener for both teams who came in with identical 4-0 records. Moore is one of the leading rushers in the state and Friday he scored three times to pace Cathedral.
BA is back at home next Friday hosting Parklane Academy.
Loyd Star 30, Ethel 27
Ethel took a 21-6 lead at halftime Friday night before a Hornet comeback in the second half gave coach Brian Ford and his team the win.
Loyd Star (2-1) travels to Mize next week.
Puckett 20, Bogue Chitto 14 OT
The Puckett Wolves scored on their third play of overtime Friday night to take a 20-14 win over Bogue Chitto on Troy Smith Field.
Coach Gareth Sartin and his BC Bobcats led 7-6 at halftime.
Bogue Chitto (0-3) hosts St. Patrick next week.

One of the top 4A teams in the state, Columbia High rolled to a 31-0-win Friday night in Monticello.
Coach Jesse Anderson and his Cougars (0-2) are back in action Friday at Wesson.
St. Patrick 40, Enterprise 24
EAC and coach Trey Woodard opened their season in Biloxi Friday night at St. Patrick with a loss to the Fighting Irish.
The Yellow Jackets travel to Clarkdale on Friday.
