Loyd Star senior pitcher Wyatt Hodges recently signed a letter-of-intent to continue his baseball career with Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Seated with Hodges is his brother Cade. Standing, from left , his mother Sherri Hodges and his father Bradley Hodges. A right-handed pitcher, Loyd Star coach Jared Britt says the Wolves are getting a competitor. “Wyatt is one of those guys that has put in so much hard work over his high school career and that hard work is paying off,” said Loyd Star head coach Jared Britt. “He has had gains in his fastball every year. I know he will carry that work ethic over at Co-Lin. They are getting not only a hard working guy, but very baseball savvy, respectful and just all around a great young man. Wyatt is always doing what he is supposed to be doing without anyone watching.” The Loyd Star program routinely turns out college pitchers with the older Hodges brother Cade pitching first at Pearl River C.C. and now at Louisiana Tech. In his younger brother, Co-Lin head coach Clay Smith sees a new piece for his team that's only going to keep improving. "We're happy to have Wyatt join our club," said Smith. "He's always been a strike thrower and hopefully his velocity will continue to go up as it has over the last year. We think he is going to only get better as he matures."
