A Sunday morning wreck in Brookhaven damaged the brick entranceway to historic Lampton Auditorium.
At approximately 10:49 a.m., Brookhaven Police Department Officer Logan Fuller responded to the call and found 54-year-old Charles Smith of Brookhaven in a confused and disoriented state.
Smith was traveling westbound on West Cherokee Street when he apparently blacked out, BPD Master Sgt. Kevin Thompson said. The 2000 Chevrolet Impala he was driving struck a parked pickup truck before jumping the curb and impacting the brick column to the left of the sidewalk in front of Lampton Auditorium, at the corner of West Cherokee and South Jackson streets.
Smith was transported by ambulance to King’s Daughters Medical Center.
