15 MSA students win in prestigious art competition

Visual arts students at the Mississippi School of the Arts recently received awards in the prestigious Regional Scholastic Art Competition hosted by the Mississippi Museum of Art. A total of three Gold Keys, nine Silver Keys and 16 Honorable Mentions were awarded to MSA student artists.
MSA students receiving awards were:
- Donald Spraggins, Bogue Chitto, one Gold Key and one Silver Key
- Mayleen Candelario, Vancleave, one Gold Key
- Emily Leggett, Ocean Springs, one Gold Key, one Silver Key, one Honorable Mention
- Zoe Hart, Silver Creek, one Silver Key
- Angel Poole, Newton, one Silver Key
- Sydney Harrison, Toomsuba, one Silver Key, three Honorable Mentions
- Abrielle Carnathan, Tupelo, two Silver Keys, two Honorable Mentions
- Isabella Gandy, Southaven, two Silver Keys, two Honorable Mentions
- Caleb Donegan, Gulfport, one Honorable Mention
- MyKayla Hall, Walnut, one Honorable Mention
- Reese Marshall, Braxton, two Honorable Mentions
- Sonia Matrick, Crystal Springs, one Honorable Mention
- Chaney McDade, Scooba, one Honorable Mention
- Cate Simmons, Meridian, one Honorable Mention
- Roslyn Walker, Newton, one Honorable Mention
The work of the artists who received American Visions and Gold and Silver Keys will be on display at MMA in Jackson as part of the exhibition for the Scholastic Art Awards Competition. These works will advance to the national competition.
