A former officer with the Wesson Police Department has died from complications battling COVID-19.

The death of Capt. Joe Brown, who served on the force from 2006 to 2020, was announced by WPD Monday afternoon.

“Joe and I graduated high school together in Wesson,” said WPD Chief Chad O’Quinn. “He was a fellow Army veteran that served in Iraq. He will be greatly missed.”

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
