Supervisors inspect dump truck options

Lincoln County Board of Supervisors is in the market for a new dump truck.

Truckworx Kenworth representative Samantha Raner appeared before the board Monday to present options from her company based on board members’ requests.

She brought two trucks for supervisors to physically inspect in order to get a good idea of what the company had to offer before moving ahead with a decision.

The trucks presented were both automatic transmission single-axle dump trucks. One was a 33-ton gross vehicle weight 12-yard body truck. The other, a 26-ton GVW 7-8 yard truck, does not require a driver to have a CDL in order to operate it. A commercial driver license is required for the larger truck.

If the board decides to purchase one or more vehicles from Truckworx Kenworth, the agreement will be written as a five-year agreement — not a contract — during which prices cannot increase for the first two years, and then in years three-five a maximum increase of 3% can occur for any new purchases.

Supervisors inspected the trucks without making a commitment to purchase.
