Rainy days ahead for the area

Rainfall is expected to continue across the day today and throughout the night, with 80% chance of precipitation. Rainfall of a quarter to half an inch is possible, according to the National Weather Service in Jackson.

Chance of rain lowers to 40% after about 1 a.m.

Expect a high near 79 degrees today and a low of 65, with calm winds. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms is predicted for 1-4 a.m.

Moving into the day Tuesday, showers are likely and a thunderstorm possible from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m., then showers and thunderstorms thereafter. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Three-quarters to one inch of rain is possible.

A high of 79 will drop to around 63 Tuesday night, with 80% chance of rain up to one inch.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue through Thursday night.

Wednesday should see an 80% chance of rain and thunderstorms — with up to one inch accumulation — dropping to 30% Wednesday night and Thursday. Highs will stay in the low 70s and lows into the 50s.

Sunny skies and highs up to the low 80s are expected to finish out the week.
